Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) sends electromagnetic waves from the antenna to the targets in the ground or wall. When these electromagnetic waves encounter materials of different densities or materials of different conductivities, the waves will bend and produce anomalies at an estimated depth.  The anomalies will most likely represent a target of interest such as utilities, conduit, rebar, post tension cables, etc. The targets reflect the electromagnetic waves back to the unit’s antenna where the computer software produces real time graphic results.


Concrete floor slab scanned to determine placement of reinforcing steel.  Above photos show the location of reinforcing steel and it was determined that there was only welded wire reinforcement was in place.  The design engineers were able to use this information to determine the proper design for the anticipated work.
